
Lieutenant Colonel Tyler Tafelski currently serves as the acting Military Deputy to the Director of the Ground Vehicle Systems Center in Warren, Michigan. He graduated from the United States Military Academy and received his commission as an infantry lieutenant in 2001. LTC Tafelski is an officer in the U.S. Army’s Acquisition Corps.
LTC Tafelski’s first duty assignment was at Fort Drum, NY where he served as an infantry Platoon Leader and company Executive Officer for 2-14 Infantry Regiment in the 10th Mountain Division (Light). Upon completion of the Infantry Captain Career Course, he served as a mechanized infantry Company Commander for 2nd Combined Arms Battalion, and Headquarters Company Commander for 5th Brigade, 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss, TX. Following his company commands, he was selected for the Acquisition Corps and attended graduate school at Webster University. LTC Tafelski was then assigned as an Assistant Product Manager for the Ground Combat Vehicle project (PM GCV), and then as an Assistant Product Manager for Project Management Stryker Brigade Combat Team (PM SBCT) located at Detroit Arsenal, MI. Following his branch qualifying assignments, he was assigned to the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) and served as a Program Integrator, Deputy Director and interim Commander of DCMA BAE systems while located in Nashua, NH. LTC Tafelski was then selected to be the Product Manager for the Extended Range Cannon Artillery program in Detroit Arsenal, MI, and is currently serving as the interim Military Deputy and Director of Experimental Prototypes for the Ground Vehicle Systems Center at Detroit Arsenal, MI.
LTC Tafelski holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Factors Engineering from the United States Military Academy, and a Master of Business Administration from Webster’s University. He is Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Level III certified in Program Management, DAWIA Level II certified in Contracts and a member of the Acquisition Corps.
